About this yacht
The Bali 4.1 is a 2019 catamaran measuring 12.37 m length with a 6.85 m beam and 1.15 m draft. The layout provides four cabins and eight berths, suited to groups or families who need separate sleeping cabins. Its hull and measurements indicate the space and stability characteristics of a mid-length cruising catamaran.
Onboard systems include air conditioning, a generator, refrigerator and a chart plotter with autopilot. Deck equipment features a bimini, lazy bag, swimming platform and a dinghy. The yacht is based in Admiralty Bay, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and is set up for basic self-sufficient cruising and navigation.

About the Bali 4.1
The 4.1 is where the Bali idea is at its most useful, because the smaller the catamaran the more every square metre of usable space counts. Instead of trampolines there is a solid foredeck you can walk and lie on. Instead of a bulkhead between saloon and cockpit there is a panel that lifts like a garage door, so the two become one room.
On a bigger cat those features are nice. On a boat this size they are the difference between feeling cramped and not. The aft cockpit on a 40-foot catamaran is a fixed size; open the back of the saloon and suddenly it is twice that.
It is a popular first catamaran for exactly this reason, and it is forgiving to handle. What you give up is sailing performance — all that structure weighs something, and the solid foredeck puts some of it forward.
Who it suits
- A first catamaran
- Small enough to berth without anxiety, simple enough that nothing needs explaining twice, and stable enough that nobody feels seasick.
- Families with young children
- A solid foredeck instead of netting is the single biggest practical difference for small children aboard.
- Couples who want the space without the size
- Two people get a catamaran's flat decks and separation at a length that is cheap to berth and easy to handle.
- Less suited to large groups
- The cabin count fits, but this is a 40-foot boat. Eight adults for a week will feel the limits of the galley and the heads.
Layout & life aboard
- The garage door matters most here
- Lifting the aft bulkhead roughly doubles the living space on a boat this size.
- Open and close it at handover — it is a big moving part and you will use it every day.
- Solid foredeck
- Walk forward in bare feet, lie down, leave a book there. No netting to cross and nothing to drop through.
- Galley in the saloon
- Worktop and a large fridge on the main level rather than down in a hull, which keeps the cook in the conversation.
- Ventilation without power
- Sliding saloon windows mean most evenings are comfortable without running a generator for air conditioning.
Under sail
- Steady rather than quick
- The structure that makes the boat liveable also makes it heavy for its length.
- Reaching
- Level and quiet. This is the angle the boat is built around.
- Upwind
- Limited. With weight and windage forward, a short chop on the nose slows the boat markedly.
- Plan routes that avoid long upwind legs and the week is far more pleasant.
- Under power
- Twin engines, short hull, easy to turn. One of the simplest catamarans to berth.
Worth knowing before you book
- Plan the route around the wind
- On a small, heavy cat an upwind leg can turn a three-hour hop into a six-hour one.
- Worth looking at the forecast before choosing the direction of your first day, not after.
- Shade on the foredeck
- Lovely in the morning, unusable at midday without a cover. Ask what is fitted.
- Test the lifting bulkhead
- If it sticks, the boat loses the feature it was bought for.
- Water capacity with a full crew
- A boat this size carries what a boat this size carries. Eight people get through it faster than you expect.

Frequently asked questions
For bareboat charter the skipper on board needs a recognised sailing license and, in most countries, a VHF certificate. If nobody in your group is licensed, book the yacht with a professional skipper.
Charter weeks normally run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in in the afternoon and check-out in the morning at the home base (Bequia Marina).
Cross-border sailing is often possible with prior notice and additional paperwork. Ask us before booking so the operator can prepare the documents.
Fuel is normally paid on a tank-to-tank basis: you receive the yacht with a full tank and return it full.
