About the Leopard 50

The 50 is the top of the Leopard charter range, and it is where the Robertson and Caine ideas get enough room to work properly. The forward cockpit stops being a clever addition and becomes a genuine second living room. The flybridge gives a lounge and a helm with a view of the whole boat. The aft cockpit seats everyone at once.

Three separate outdoor spaces on one boat sounds like marketing until you have spent a week with ten people aboard, at which point it is the entire difference between a holiday and a queue.

It sails like what it is: a large, solidly built cruising catamaran. It will not win anything, but it eats miles comfortably and arrives with everyone in a good mood, which on a charter week is the only performance figure that matters.

Who it suits

Large groups, or two families together
Charter layouts give every cabin its own heads, and there is enough deck space that ten people are not in each other's way.
Crews who want separation
Three outdoor areas plus a saloon means people can read, cook, sunbathe and steer without negotiating for space.
Longer legs between anchorages
Weight and waterline give a steady, unfussy motion that makes a six-hour passage uneventful.
Less suited to tight budgets or tight harbours
This is the expensive end in every sense — charter rate, berthing, fuel. And the berths that take it are few.

Layout & life aboard

Three outdoor spaces
Forward cockpit, aft cockpit and flybridge lounge, each with a different aspect and different shade through the day.
Flybridge helm
The wheel is up top with seating around it, and you can see every corner of the boat from there.
Saloon that works for a crowd
Galley and dining sized for ten people rather than technically seating them.
Cabin with its own heads, every time
The charter layout does not compromise on bathrooms, which is what a full boat notices.

Under sail

Comfortable rather than quick
Built heavy for charter service. The motion is easy and the boat is unflustered; it is not a performance machine.
Reaching
The point of sail it is built for. Level, steady and quiet, with real distance covered.
Upwind
Modest. In a seaway with wind on the nose most crews bear away or motor-sail.
Windage is substantial
Flybridge, hardtop and freeboard on a 50-foot beam. Manoeuvring in a cross-wind needs planning.
A working autopilot is essential rather than convenient.

Worth knowing before you book

Berth availability before anything else
A catamaran of this size needs a specific kind of space. In high season those go first and cost the most.
Plan and reserve the whole route rather than improvising.
Check the generator and air conditioning
On a boat this size with a full crew, these stop being luxuries and become the systems the week depends on.
Flybridge stairway in a seaway
The most likely place for a fall aboard. Worth a word with everyone on day one.
Fuel and water planning
Ten people use a lot of both. Work out the refill stops before you leave rather than when a tank runs low.

Cancellation terms are set by the charter operator. We confirm them for this yacht in writing with your offer, within 48 hours of your request — before any payment.

Split payment

You pay 30% when the booking is confirmed and the balance before check-in. Fees collected by the operator on arrival are listed separately, so nothing is a surprise at the marina.

Security deposit

A refundable deposit of 14,200 EUR is blocked at check-in, or you can pay a non-refundable waiver of 1,936 EUR instead.

Frequently asked questions

For bareboat charter the skipper on board needs a recognised sailing license and, in most countries, a VHF certificate. If nobody in your group is licensed, book the yacht with a professional skipper.

Charter weeks normally run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in in the afternoon and check-out in the morning at the home base (Wickhams Cay II Marina).

Cross-border sailing is often possible with prior notice and additional paperwork. Ask us before booking so the operator can prepare the documents.

Fuel is normally paid on a tank-to-tank basis: you receive the yacht with a full tank and return it full.
