How a Baltic week is shaped
7 daysRather than one route — the four countries here are hundreds of miles apart — this is the pattern that holds. The country pages carry the actual itineraries.
-
1
Handover, and out of the city
Most bases are near a city. Move an hour or two and anchor between islands rather than staying on the pontoon.
-
2
Into the skerries or along the coast
Pilotage between islets in the Swedish archipelagos; coastal passages in Poland and Germany.
-
3
A guest harbour
Baltic guest harbours are the social centre of the sailing here — sauna, showers, and a fee that is modest by Mediterranean standards.
-
4
The outer edge
Where the islands thin and the open sea starts. The turning point of most weeks.
-
5
An anchorage with nobody in it
Easy here. With no tide and no swell, a line ashore to a rock is the normal method.
-
6
Working back
Inside the islands, out of whatever the wind is doing offshore.

7
