About the Bali 4.6
The 4.6 is the Bali formula with enough length to stop making compromises. The solid foredeck becomes a genuine second deck rather than a clever use of space. The lifting aft bulkhead opens a saloon that was already large. And there is room for the cabin count that makes a big group work without anyone sleeping badly.
What changes with size is that the boat stops being about ingenuity and starts being about scale. A large group can spread out — forward deck, aft cockpit, saloon, and the helm position — without negotiating over the same bench.
It is also where the weight of all that structure starts to be carried more easily. A longer waterline absorbs it, so the 4.6 moves more comfortably than the smaller boats in the range even though it is heavier in absolute terms.
Who it suits
- Large groups and multi-family weeks
- Enough cabins and enough separate deck areas that ten people are not permanently in the same space.
- Ask how many heads, not just how many cabins.
- Crews who will cook and eat aboard
- A full galley on the saloon level with a large fridge, opening straight onto the cockpit when the bulkhead is up.
- Longer passages between anchorages
- Length carries the weight. The motion is noticeably easier than on the smaller boats in the range.
- Less suited to tight harbours and tight budgets
- Beam plus length plus catamaran berthing rates. In August the suitable spaces are few and expensive.
Layout & life aboard
- Foredeck as a second deck
- At this size the solid foredeck and forward cockpit become a proper living area rather than a bonus.
- The lifting bulkhead at scale
- A large saloon opening fully onto a large cockpit is the most convincing version of the Bali idea.
- Cabins with real separation
- The extra length puts proper distance between the hull cabins, which matters when two families share a boat.
- Shade and ventilation
- Sliding windows and a big covered cockpit keep the boat habitable without running machinery all evening.
Under sail
- Easier motion than the smaller boats
- More waterline to carry the structure means a steadier, less fussy ride.
- Reaching
- Comfortable and level, covering real distance without drama.
- Upwind
- Still the weak point of the type. Weight and windage forward mean you bear away or motor-sail into a head sea.
- Under power
- Twin engines far apart. It turns in its own length, but there is a lot of boat to stop.
Worth knowing before you book
- Berths first, route second
- A catamaran this size needs specific berths. Reserve the week's stops before you plan the sailing.
- Generator and air conditioning
- With a full crew on a large boat these stop being optional extras and become what the week depends on.
- Ask the base to run both at handover.
- Test the lifting bulkhead
- Larger panel, same principle. If it sticks you lose the feature the boat is built around.
- Water and fuel planning
- Ten people get through both quickly. Work out the refill stops in advance.

Frequently asked questions
For bareboat charter the skipper on board needs a recognised sailing license and, in most countries, a VHF certificate. If nobody in your group is licensed, book the yacht with a professional skipper.
Charter weeks normally run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in in the afternoon and check-out in the morning at the home base (Yacht Classic Hotel).
Cross-border sailing is often possible with prior notice and additional paperwork. Ask us before booking so the operator can prepare the documents.
Fuel is normally paid on a tank-to-tank basis: you receive the yacht with a full tank and return it full.
