Yacht charter in Spain

The classic Balearic week and the one most of the fleet is positioned for. One real crossing, then short hops and anchorages.

1. 1

   Palma

   Handover is usually late afternoon; move west along the bay rather than staying in the marina.

2. 2

   Sant Elm / Sa Dragonera

   Position yourself at the western tip for the crossing.

3. 3

   Ibiza — Santa Eulalia or Talamanca

   The open leg of the week, roughly half a day.

4. 4

   Formentera — Espalmador

   Shallow and sandy; mooring is buoyed and regulated.

5. 5

   Cala Saona or Es Caló

   Round Formentera depending on the breeze.

6. 6

   Back to Ibiza — Cala Bassa or Sant Antoni

   Start the return before the afternoon wind fills in.

7. 7

   Palma

   The crossing back, best taken early.

Quieter than the Ibiza route and better in a strong season. Menorca gets a fraction of the traffic and its coves are smaller.

   Palma or Portocolom

   Head east along the island rather than west.

2. 2

   Porto Cristo or Cala Ratjada

   Work up the east coast.

   Ciutadella, Menorca

   The crossing; a narrow inlet harbour on the west end.

4. 4

   Cala Macarella / Cala Mitjana

   South-coast coves — day anchorages in settled weather.

5. 5

   Mahón

   The long natural harbour at the eastern end; shelter in anything.

6. 6

   Back west — Fornells or Ciutadella

   Fornells is a deep bay on the north side; tramontana territory.

7. 7

   Mallorca

   Return crossing to base.
